2012 MHSAA Scholarship winners

At Senior Recognition Night on May 31, 2012, the MHS Alumni Association awarded two $1,000 scholarships in memory of Susan Pope. Susan had an illustrious 30-year career as a children’s librarian at the Memorial, Wheelock, and Dale Street schools here in Medfield. Some remember her fondly as Ms. Feigenbaum… some Mrs. Pope… in any case, her love of literature and learning has inspired so many people over the years. Susan passed away in 2009 but will always have a place in Medfield’s heart. The winners of the MHS Alumni Association’s two $1,000 scholarships in memory of Susan Pope are Evan Berry and Megan Tschirch (pictured together). Congratulations again!

On August 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the MHSAA will host a Medfield High School reunion weekend. Any and all classes are invited.

The weekend kicks off Friday night, August 3rd, with a concert at the Thomas A. Blake Middle School to honor the late Robert D. Hersee, longtime MHS music coordinator, and to dedicate a plaque that will be permanently placed outside of the auditorium.

Paul DeLuca ’78 is organizing a 2-hour musical revue made up of MHS alumni, including some members of the current MHS Band and Jazz Band. Medfield alumni who were in band, chorus, glee club, or are otherwise musically inclined and would like to participate are invited to do so. Please send an email to pcdeluca2@gmail.com.

On Saturday night, August 4th, there will be a reunion party at the American Legion Hall open to all classes. Note: We’ll be accepting donations of non-perishible foods and canned goods for the Medfield Food Pantry. Please bring a food item to donate.

We’ll wrap up the weekend on Sunday afternoon with an informal barbecue at Rocky Woods Reservation. Other activities are still being planned for Saturday afternoon.

You may purchase one ticket for all the weekend events at a single price of $50. There will also be ala carte tickets available for separate events if you can’t participate in the whole weekend. Alumni purchasing tickets by July 27th will be eligible for a $50 Gift Card drawing.
